A Mother’s House Has a Room for Every Child

Ripstop nylon fabric, batting

14’ x 20’

The Medium, Springdale, AR

2023

Taking formal cues from the warmth and home sewn character of interior domestic spaces, this temporary site specific work reimagines the materiality of the architectural façade as something that is sewn. The artwork rejects the relegation of the decorative to mere accessory and instead celebrates softness and comfort as essential structural components.

The installation was exhibited as part of the exterior group exhibition, Soft Power: Intersections of Belonging and Public Space, on view at The Medium from April 7 - May, 2023 and featuring installations by Cindy Arsaga, Kalyn Barnoski, Danielle Hatch, and Ziba Rajabi. The four site-specific artworks explored the geography of gender through its design, inscription and expression in public space and architecture
